SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 8, 2025) – A “strong working relationship” between the city of Saugatuck and the Outdoor Discovery Center Network may be strengthened even further on Monday night.
During the Saugatuck City Council’s biweekly business meeting, the governing panel will be recommended to approve a $38,500 allocation to the Holland-based nature preservation non-profit to come up with a management plan for the Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area. It would deal with treating invasive species, assess the trail system, and monitor specific portions of the property.
ODC’s proposal for the project not only closely matches the areas of focus found within a management recommendation from the Land Conservancy of West Michigan, but it comes of the heels of last year’s approval of having the agency build trails and preserve greenspace at the Old Airport Property.
Maddie Tunison is the manager of marketing and communication with the ODC Network.
Also during this meeting, the governing panel will also be asked to approve a proposal for planning improvements along Elizabeth Street, set aside funds for dock repairs and maintenance, and form an advisory committee which would request proposals for refreshing the city’s logo and branding.
The Saugatuck City Council’s 6:30 PM business session is in the second floor meeting room at Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
