LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 21, 2025) – Four men from the Lakeshore stepped out as Michigan State Police troopers on Friday.
Among the 50 recruits who graduated from the 149th Trooper Recruit School at the Lansing Center will be: Braden Ellis of Allegan and Kyle Theodore of Hamilton, both of whom will be initially assigned to the Paw Paw post; Branyon Vasquez of Spring Lake, who will be initially assigned to the Wayland post; and Matthew Coffman of Hudsonville, who will be assigned to the Lakeview post. They will join over 11 hundred troopers assigned statewide, and around 18 hundred enlisted members of the MSP.
During their three-month-long stint at the Training Academy in the Lansing suburb of Dimondale, the recruits received training in various aspects of their upcoming vocation.
The 150th Trooper Recruit School gets underway in January, while applications for various other training sessions later in 2026 are being accepted through this online link.
