HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 17, 2025) – It was, for the most part, a successful first weekend for Holland’s newest attraction.
Outside of warm, windy weather conditions that compelled the cancellation of activities on Saturday, the Holland Ice Park saw several hundred people skate around its 700-foot-long ribbon and its main circular pond, as well as participate in curling activities on an adjacent sheet. The $11.3 million project, which took just over 18 months to complete, was formally opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Friday.
Holland Mayor Nathan Bocks said in his remarks that the Ice Park would make the Tulip City a truly four-season destination.
The Ice Park’s season runs through mid-March, weather permitting, with Mondays set aside for maintenance. However, some members of the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team are slated to appear at the site, off of East 6th Street and College Avenue, from 6-7 PM this evening for a public appearance, and to take a few laps on the ice.
