HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 29, 2025) – Halloween may be two days away, and Thanksgiving is about four weeks from now, but an annual Christmas tradition is already underway.
Members with the Shoreline Detachment of the Marine Corps League went along the Lakeshore on Tuesday, placing collection boxes for the Toys for Tots campaign. The initiative aims to ensure that “no child should go without a toy for Christmas” by having the public donate new but unwrapped toys, which will then be distributed by non-profits such as the Salvation Army of Holland.
Captain Matt Winters is the co-pastor of the local Salvation Army.
Collection efforts begin on December 18 and run through the 22nd.
National officials say that over 30 million toys were provided last year through Toys for Tots, with an online link for more information on the local initiative here.
