ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 2, 2025) – A long-standing tradition returns to Zeeland this weekend, as that Lakeshore community bids farewell to a long-time public servant.
The annual Pumpkinfest begins on Thursday with horse drawn wagon rides, strolling circus performers, face painting, henna art, and an Avenue of Art walking tour. Friday brings a plethora of activities in the downtown area, with an evening laser light show, and the “Pumpkinfest Goes to the Circus” parade on Saturday afternoon.
Also a part of the festivities on Friday is a three-hour celebration for outgoing Mayor Kevin Klynstra, who is retiring after 14 years as the city’s elected top official, and three decades on its City Council. City Manager Tim Klunder has worked closely with him since his arrival from the Detroit-area community of Algonac two decades ago.
