Joan Strabbing (nee Vanden Brink) passed away peacefully to her heavenly home, surrounded by her loving family September 21, 2025.
She was born in Holland on November 4, 1932. She worked in the Holland area as an office receptionist for multiple doctors and her church while raising her five children. She was very supportive of her children’s activities in the PTA, scouting and sports. She loved baking treats (pies); singing in the choir and card making. Her greatest pleasures were spending time with her “grands”, seeing air shows, visiting parks, playing games and losing in cards to her grandsons, especially euchre. She was a member of Christ Memorial Church where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her children, Joy Strabbing, Jack and Helen Strabbing, and Jerry “Putter” and Patricia Strabbing, her son-in-law Demetrio “Bob” Rosales, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Justin Strabbing, Matthew and Jamie Strabbing (Charlie, Mason), Tim and Cici Strabbing (Arlo), Cameron and Lucy Strabbing, Lauren Mitchell (Brian, Aurora, Carolina, Dakota), Jeremy and Amy Strabbing (Parker), John Strabbing II, Jordan and Heather Strabbing (Mason), Ryan and Jessica Strabbing (Gwen Joan), Kyle Strabbing, David and Carrie Mantey (Dezmond, Kaeden), Brian and Cyndi Mantey, Doug and Lindsey Mantey (Lilly, Vanden), her sisters-in-law, Carol Kolk, Ona Strabbing, and Shirley Kendziorski, her brother-in-law Roger Shoemaker, her foster siblings, Robert Ver Hey, Helen J. De Waard, and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Jerold L. Strabbing, and her children, John and Lelah Strabbing, and Janice L. Rosales.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 am Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road, Holland, the funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 am in the sanctuary. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Memorial Church.
