HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 19, 2025) – A late summer tradition in Holland returns this weekend.
The 16th annual Van Raalte Civil War Muster is set for Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of the city’s Van Raalte Farm Park. Performers led by Fritz Klein as President Lincoln and Dr. Curt Fields as General Grant will reenact portions of the nine-month-long Siege of Petersburg from June of 1864 to April of 1865 that led to the fall of the Confederate capitol of Richmond. and visitors can not only see the action, but interact with the performers at their camps.
In addition, there will be performances from the First Holland Regimental Band, tours of the Van Raalte Home, a Civil War-era church service, and an authentic-looking, Civil War-era saloon will be set up at the Grey Barn. There will be a photo contest for attendees to compete in, and shuttle parking from the Yang Feng lot off of East 24th Street.
