JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 19, 2025) – A Tuesday afternoon crash that damaged a residence south of Hudsonville was apparently the last straw for the Ottawa County Road Commission.
On Thursday, board members ordered that the intersection of 40th Avenue and Riley Street have temporary four-way stop signs installed. In a department statement, this is meant to ease traffic congestion caused by the closure of Byron Road between 32nd and 40th avenues due to a culvert replacement, with this junction in the midst of a posted detour.
That congestion may have led to a collision between two pickup trucks at that intersection, in which both drivers involved were injured, and the force of the crash caused both vehicles to veer into the residence, causing minor damage, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies responding to the incident.
The stop signs should be installed on Friday. The culvert replacement project began this past Monday, and is expected to last through October 10th.
