ANN ARBOR, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 16, 2025) – Safety was the focus of two Monday events on the Wolverine AMTRAK line.
In separate occasions at St. Joseph and Ann Arbor, various law enforcement and railroad officials talked about preventing tragedies on the tracks to kick off the renamed “See Tracks? Think Train Week” campaign. Heading up the effort was Curtis Stewart, the Michigan coordinator for the international Operation Lifesaver initiative.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, a person or vehicle is struck by a train every three hours in the US. A number of activities are planned throughout the week to share lifesaving messages in communities where rail lines are present.
