HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 4, 2025) – Now that centralized early voting in Ottawa County is no more, local units of government are getting ready to pick up this responsibility for when early voting returns next year.
During Thursday night’s Holland Township Board meeting, trustees will be asked to approve an agreement with neighboring Park Township to hold a municipal joint early voting site. It would serve a total of 18 precincts and nearly 47 thousand registered voters.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck announced in January the end of the four early voting centers in the county after seeing 13 percent participation in last November’s Presidential Election. This compares to 18 percent in neighboring Kent County, and 24 percent in Allegan County, both of which had local jurisdictions handle the nine-day early voting period.
If approved by Holland Township at its 7 PM meeting in the township offices (353 N. 120th Ave.), this municipal joint early voting site agreement should be considered by the Park Township board at its next meeting next Thursday.
