LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 3, 2025) – Despite some questions about her background as a former Ionia County Administrator, Stephanie Fox is apparently going to get the opportunity to be the Laketown Township Manager.
During a special meeting on Tuesday evening, the Executive Assistant to Kentwood Mayor Stephen Kepley answered questions from the Township Board of Trustees over issues brought up by Supervisor Steven Ringelberg stemming from the departure of a staffer. Fox was up front in discussing the matter.
Ringelberg, who has been the interim manager since January, when Al Meshkin retired after 37 years at the post, was unconvinced.
Despite his objections, the board voted to approve an interim contract with Fox as township manager, but amending the deal to include job reviews after 90 days and after six months into the agreement.
The decision apparently ends a lengthy search for Meshkin’s replacement, with two finalists turning down the offer in January, necessitating a second effort that resulted in the choice of Fox over former Park Township Manager Howard Fink and Graafschap Fire Captain David Grumney, both of whom had been asked to remain as candidates should matters with Fox fall through.
