ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 21, 2025) – A 16-year-old boy from Ionia County awaits charges in Ottawa County stemming from an alleged series of sexual assault incidents at a retail complex across from Grand Valley State’s main Allendale campus earlier this week.
According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the unnamed youth had entered a business in the Village at 48 West around 6 PM on Monday evening, approaching a woman and making what Sparks would call “inappropriate sexual contact” with the victim. The teen had fled the scene before deputies arrived.
The next afternoon, the teen returned to that undisclosed retailer, following female patrons within the store, and partially exposing himself to at least one woman who had been shopping with her child. Authorities were able to then identify and locate the suspect, turning him over to his parents, while the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney’s office considers what criminal action will be taken.
The investigation into both incidents continues, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Ottawa County Central Dispatch (800-249-0911) or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
