HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 21, 2025) – Wednesday night’s Holland City Council meeting had a “vacation” feel to it, for with only five of the nine members on hand, there was just enough to constitute a quorum and conduct business.
The Tulip City’s governing panel approved a proposed ordinance amendment that set the city’s Fire Code in line with the 2021 International Fire Code. Fire Captain Chris Tinney says that the changes would be “pretty administrative” in nature.
In addition, council approved a resolution that would authorize membership in the Western Michigan Health Insurance Pool for city and Holland BPW staffers for at least three years. Human Relations Director Jennifer Orme said that this would allow the municipal entities to continue offering “robust” health insurance options while reducing plan expenses in administrative fees, prescription drugs, and stop loss insurance coverage.
The Holland City Council’s business meeting was in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
