PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 14, 2025) – No injuries were incurred, and damage was somewhat limited, following a fire on a boat that was out of the water off of Lake Macatawa on Tuesday evening.
Park Township fire crews were dispatched to the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club site off of South Shore Drive around 6:45 PM. They found the outboard motor to a 17-foot inflatable boat ablaze, with the craft secured to a boat lift along the shore.
Firefighters had to pull out about 300 feet of hose to reach the vessel and put out the flames. They then confirmed that the fuel tank remained intact, with no leakage detected, and there were no apparent pollution concerns.
A cause of what sparked the fire wasn’t immediately determined as the incident remains under investigation.
