LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 13, 2025) – The issue of short term rentals will be before leaders of a Lakeshore community on Wednesday evening.
Members of the Laketown Township Board of Trustees will join that municipality’s Planning Commission for a 7 PM meeting at the Township Hall (4338 Beeline Rd.). On the agenda will be a discussion on the process and timing for collecting public input, learning more about the impact of STR, seeing how other communities are handling this issue, and evaluate possible changes to the township’s STR ordinance.
Laketown Township enacted a six-month moratorium on free-standing short term rentals in May, as the board wanted to decrease complaints from neighbors over noise, disruption, and diminishing tax value, along with preserving the entity’s housing stock, while evaluating what future course should be taken on this matter.
