Kikeo Silabout, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1938, in Pakse, Laos, to Ornsy and Dengkham Silabout. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who built a life rooted in hard work, kindness, and attention for those around him.
From 1956-1975 Kikeo proudly served in the military as a Tank Commander in Laos before immigrating to America in July of 1979. He settled in Lansing, Michigan and worked as a baker at Quality Dairy, where he provided for his family with dedication and devotion. In February 1962, Kikeo married the love of his life, Chantho Keoasa, with whom he built a wonderful life with their daughter.
His Buddhist faith guided him through his life, and he carried his values with strength and pride. Whether it was offering a helping hand or simply showing up when it mattered most, Kikeo lived a life full of love. His strong spirit and steady belief left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Chantho; his daughter, Chanthala, and her husband, Chanthay. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Diane, Nancy, Stephanie, and James, as well as his great-grandchildren, Daveyana, Davidia, and Preston. He shared a meaningful and powerful bond with his family that went beyond words.
Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
A visitation for Kikeo will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, Michigan 49424. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services.
