Two local school districts were asking voters to approve bond proposals. Holland was seeking $49.2 million in bonds over a 30-year period for building refurbishing, technology advancements, school bus purchases, and upgrades to athletic facilities, including building an on-campus football stadium at Holland High. Superintendent Nick Cassidy said beforehand that this proposal would not result in a tax increase.
The measure passed on a 3170-1301 vote (70.9%).
Fennville schools officials sought approval of a $22.3 million bond proposal over 25 years for building and facilities refurbishing, with a tax cut of a half mill in the process. That measure passed on a 660-489 vote (57.4%).
Three Allegan County communities submitted millage requests for their voters to decide upon. Laketown Township wanted to reallocate current funding for roads, bike paths, drains, and fire services in separate proposals to an even 1.5 mills, with no change in the tax rate. Both measures passed by around three quarters of the vote (928-332 73.7% for fire, 973-281 77.6% for roads & drains). Lee Township was seeking a renewal of a two-mill levy for roads over five years, which passed 106-64 (62.4%), while Manilus Township wanted renewals of its roads and fire protection levies at current millage rates, all of which passed by margins of between 69 and 78 percent (267-122 roads, 305-85 fire, 270-120 resurfacing).
