VALLEY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 2, 2025) – A 60-year-old man lost his life in the waters of an inland lake north of Allegan on Saturday afternoon.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is not disclosing the name or the hometown of the victim in the incident at the Triponds Family Camp Resort around 3:15 PM. Several people had called Central Dispatch, reporting that a man was found unresponsive in the water, and some bystanders were able to bring him out and administer first aid by the time first responders arrived. The victim was taken to Holland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No details as to the circumstances which led to the incident were immediately revealed as the matter remains under investigation.
