ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 31, 2025) – The loss of a loved one at any age and in any circumstance can be devastating, but when death comes suddenly, to one in the prime of life, it can hit even harder to ones that are left behind.
Last Friday evening, Jeff Streur was killed in a two-vehicle crash north of Zeeland. He was driving a Consumers Energy truck southbound on 88th Avenue, heading for a service call, when it collided with a westbound sedan trying the cross the intersection at Ransom Street. He was thrown from his vehicle upon impact, and died at the scene.
A family friend began a Go Fund Me online effort to raise $60,000 for handling funeral costs and other immediate expenses, and as of Thursday morning, it has surpassed that mark by more than $7,000.
Visitation for Mr. Streur is from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Thursday at North Holland Reformed Church (12050 New Holland St.), with a memorial service set for 1 PM. Funeral arrangements are through the Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home.
The intersection where the crash occurred has stop signs for Ransom Street, with 88th Avenue having the right of way. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t said whether the 64-year-old Park Township woman driving the sedan in this incident, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, had either driven through the stop sign, or had tried to proceed after making a stop, as the matter remains under investigation.
