HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 29, 2025) – A worker from South Korea at one of Holland’s lithium-ion battery manufacturing facilities lost his life in what appears to be a workplace incident on Sunday evening.
According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, first responders were dispatched to the LG Energy Solutions plant off of East 48th Street shortly after 5 PM. They found the body of Kim Jung Won, an employee of a vendor company working on the automation of the machinery at the plant, partially stuck in a machine and clearly deceased, so no lifesaving attempts were made at the scene.
An initial investigation into the matter didn’t indicate any instance of foul play, and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration will take over the probe into this incident.
