ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 28, 2025) – Another program aimed at enabling Lakeshore residents to learn more about their community has a deadline for applications nearing.
The second annual Allegan County Leadership Program is looking to fill up to 15 positions when it begins a new session this October. It will consist of monthly six-hour meetings through next June, in which participants will visit various sites across the county, exploring critical community issues with non-profit and civic leaders, and build lasting connections with “fellow changemakers,” according to Amanda Chappell with the Allegan County Community Foundation.
This program is similar, to some degree, with the Zeeland Citizens Academy held earlier this spring, and the Holland Ambassador Academy that will begin on September 8th. These are efforts to have residents learn more about public institutions and services, in an effort to stimulate more community participation.
The Allegan County Community Foundation will determine by August 20th who will participate in the Allegan County Leadership Program after the application process closes on Thursday afternoon. An online link for more information is here.
