LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 22, 2025) – The search for a new operational leader in a Lakeshore community may have ended.
In a special meeting on Monday night, the Laketown Township Board of Trustees agreed to enter into negotiations with Stephanie Fox on a compensation package, as well as go over her references, in favoring her to be the municipality’s new manager. The current executive assistant to Kentwood Mayor Stephen Kepley met with residents earlier in the day at an event in the Graafschap Fire Station; lunched with township staffers; toured the area; and had a final public interview before the governing panel.
Trustees voted 4-1 in moving ahead on this matter; the lone no vote came from Supervisor Steven Ringelberg, who has been handling the managerial duties on an interim basis since Al Meshkin retired in January following 37 years at the position. The township’s second search for his replacement began in June, with a posted salary and incentive compensation range of between $115,000 and $135,000 annually before benefits.
The Laketown Township Board will update the managerial situation during its 5 PM workshop session in the township hall (4338 Beeline Rd.) on Wednesday, August 6th. Park Township Manager Howard Fink, along with Graafschap Fire Department Administrative Captain David Grumney, will still be under consideration should matters with Fox break down.
