UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 16, 2025) – It was not an All-Star Game to remember for the Tigers, Cubs or White Sox last night in Atlanta. The combination of Javier Baez, Riley Greene, Zach McKinstry and Gleyber Torres of Detroit, along with Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker of the Cubs, combined to go 1-12 at the plate, while Tarik Skubal of the Tigers allowed two runs and three hits with two strikeouts in starting the game for the American League, and Bengals teammate Casey Mize surrendered a solo homer to Arizona’s Corbin Carroll with one strikeout in a four-run National League sixth inning. Shane Smith of the White Sox retired the only batter he faced, and Matthew Boyd of the Cubs didn’t pitch in the contest, which was decided by a home-run derby won by the NL after the two teams played to a 6-6 tie after nine innings.
Regular season action resumes on Friday. The Detroit Tigers face the Texas Rangers in Arlington, with broadcast time at 7:40 on 99 7/1450 WHTC; the Cubs are home to the Boston Red Sox at Wrigley Field in Chicago; the Chicago White Sox play the Pirates in Pittsburgh; and the West Michigan Whitecaps visit the Lugnuts in Lansing.
