Kathy Smith. Age 75 of Holland, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025.
A strong and independent woman, Kathy was known for her keen insight and her ability to express her mind-whether it was a positive affirmation or a candid observation. Her meticulous nature meant that she could spot misplaced spices in her spice rack or a soup can that wasn’t facing the right way-a testament to her organized spirit.
Kathy married Terry Smith in 1991, embracing not only him but also his daughters. becoming a loving stepmother and eventually a grandma. Her warmth and dedication to family will be cherished.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Terry Smith; stepdaughters: Tamar & Jason Kass, Erika & Kellen Bouwman; grandchildren: Jayden Kass, Taya Kass, and Chase Bouwman; siblings: Michelle & Don Hardie and Doug Johnson. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Jane Johnson, as well as by her brother Tim Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
