HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 10, 2025) – For the second time in less than four months, firefighters were needed to put out a blaze at a lithium-ion battery warehouse in Holland.
Crews from numerous departments were dispatched to the ATC Drivetrain facility off of Waverly Road, south of East 32nd Street, just after 1 PM on Wednesday. They first encountered what was described as heavy smoke and fire conditions, and due to the size and complexity of the structure, along the nature of the blaze amidst the highly combustible nature of the batteries stored there, it took several hours to not only bring the flames under control, but to move the batteries out of danger.
One firefighter had to be treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, but no other crew members, nor any company employees, were injured. A determination of a cause of the fire, as well as any dollar estimate of damages, was not immediately made.
On March 30th, there was an overnight fire at that same facility, with the same difficulties encountered in bringing the blaze under control, as well as moving the batteries out of harm’s way.
