SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 9, 2025) – No final decisions will be made on Wednesday, but the Saugatuck City Council will have plenty of matters to discuss during its 4 PM workshop.
One of the issues is where the governing panel is meeting. According to City Manager Ryan Cummins, Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.) is in need of interior renovations, with aging restrooms, worn carpets, and a configuration of its existing space that is “challenging,” to say the least. Council will be asked to consider retaining Fleis and VandenBrink for a needs study, conceptual design, and structural evaluation on this matter.
Other issues to be discussed including creating a parking improvements task force, a possible donor for a future pavilion at the recently-opened Saugatuck Wilds Nature Preserve, reviewing council priorities for the current fiscal year, and to go behind closed doors to consider a written legal opinion regarding a proposed sand mining operation near an old landfill in neighboring Saugatuck Township.
The public is welcome to attend the Saugatuck City Council workshop, with an online link to the agenda and supporting documents here.
