Bill was born August 10, 1948, in Zeeland, Michigan, to Justin and Virginia (Barnes) Palmbos. He graduated from Zeeland High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He married Pamela Pluister on August 20, 1970. Bill worked at Walters Gardens for 43 1/2 years until his retirement in 2015. Bill and Pam are long time members of First Reformed Church of Zeeland. Bill was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Pam and John Meyer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pam, their children: William Palmbos Jr. and fiance Kelly, Amanda and Derek Westerlund, Randy and Rachel Palmbos; grandchildren: Samantha, Brandon, Andrew, Pierce, Brooks, Abel, Silas, Lucas, Alexandria; great-grandchildren: Liberty and Kora; siblings: Richard and Jan Palmbos, Wanda and Curt Van Noord, Don and Pat Palmbos; in-laws: Laurie Ten Harmsel, Linda and Scott Brouwer, Randy and Laura Pluister, Tim and Sue Pluister, Nancy and Mike Morren, and many extended family members.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 12, 2025, at First Reformed Church, 125 East Lincoln Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. Visiting hours will be 4:00-6:30 PM, Friday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Interment will be in West Drenthe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Disabled American Veteran’s (DAV), 1185 Matt Urban Drive, Holland MI 49423.
