In Loving Memory of David Johnson
If there was ever a man to admire for his strength, his deep love, his patience, and the care he showed to his family and everyone around him, it was David. He gave his all to those he loved. His heart was rich beyond measure.
David was born on May 13, 1948, to Laurence and Dorothy (Zimmer)Johnson of Richmond. He was a beloved brother to Ray (Arlene) his big brother and best friend, Larry, Jerry and sister JoAnn Smith.
He was also blessed to have many nephews and nieces.
He proudly served his country in Vietnam. A Purple Heart recipient, David returned home a survivor, shaped but not broken by the experience. He went on to build a beautiful life with his wife, Isabel (Silk), the love of his life. Together, they raised two sons, Dave (Cecilia) and Chris, of whom he was deeply proud.
David lived life to the fullest. He was an outdoorsman at heart, and fly fishing was one of his great joys. He spent many hours along the rivers, finding peace in nature. He also enjoyed fishing the lakes in his bass boat and hiking the woods and trails with his dog.
As a grandfather, he was full of love and joy, always ready to spoil his grandchildren Kelsey(Matthew), Kohl, Miguel, Nina, and Ethan. In his last year, he was blessed to meet the newest light in his life, his great-granddaughter Ozzie. He treasured his time with them and they brought him quiet, profound joy.
David was not only a devoted family man but also a true role model. He led with integrity, strength, and wisdom. He offered advice when it was needed most and stood as a steady, dependable presence in the lives of many. He was a volunteer firefighter and a proud defender of workers’ rights through his dedicated service in his labor union as an international representative.
Today, we honor his 77 years of life. We will miss him more than words can express, but we are forever grateful for the memories and love he gave. Those moments are treasures we will carry in our hearts always.
May God receive you in heaven, David Abner Johnson, where you can rejoice in His presence. Until we meet again, rest in peace, knowing you are deeply loved and remembered always.
With love,
Your Family
