FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 2, 2025) – Another step in the revitalization of downtown Fennville was taken on Tuesday.
The Michigan Department of Economic Development announced that developers Dana and Dori DePree will receive nearly a one million-dollar Revitalization and Placement Program grant to help renovate the former Stevens Hotel off of East Main Street into a two-story, 11-unit boutique hotel. The $4.7 million project, with a target date for completion of next June, would turn the 12,000-plus square foot structure into a hotel, with a restaurant and an entertainment space on the lower level.
This project comes on the heels of the ongoing building of City Square Park nearby, which also received a MEDC matching grant of $50,000 to augment a crowdfunding effort that was successfully completed last month. City officials are hoping to have some of that site off of Main and Maple Streets open for the public by late summer or early fall, with completion also set for next June.
