ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 20, 2025) – A decision on a new Zeeland School Superintendent was made on Thursday evening.
After final public interviews were held, the Zeeland Board of Education unanimously voted to enter into contract negotiations with Rod Hetherton in order for him to be the district’s new operational leader. If a deal is reached, he would begin his new duties on July 7th, replacing Dr. Scott Korpak, who has been the school chief on an interim basis.
Hetherton heads west from Swartz Creek, where he had been promoted to that district’s superintendent’s position three years ago. He also brings past teaching and coaching experience in Flushing, Fenton and Lansing schools.
The Zeeland board went with Hetherton instead of Dr. Brad Lusk, who is currently Hamilton’s school superintendent. They emerged from 22 total applicants for the position, which opened up in April when the board and Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham, who had been on a medical leave since last October, agreed that she would not return to the leadership post.
