HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 18, 2025) – West Michigan Regional Airport wants to be on the cutting edge of aeronautical technology.
That’s the rationale behind this week’s ground breaking of a multimodal electric charging system at the site on Holland’s South Side. Interim Airport Manager Jim Storey says that this is the wave of the future, as technology to develop longer-ranged electric planes is improving.
No final timetable for completion was initially announced. BETA Technologies will be installing the two separate chargers on site, thanks in part to a $2.6 million grant it received from the state to accelerate advanced aerial mobility readiness and growth.
