HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 30, 2025) – Record crowds for the Tulip Time Festival earlier this month has meant more questions about what happens to the bulbs once the flowers have bloomed.
The annual Tulip Dig is this Saturday, from 9 AM to 12 Noon, at Windmill Island Gardens, the Tulip Plantings at Window on the Waterfront Park, and at Centennial Park. For a $10 fee, the public can dig up those bulbs using their own bucket, shovel, gloves and manpower, with registration beginning at 8 AM.
Proceeds go to the Holland in Bloom urban beautification effort, which Linda Hart of the Holland Area Visitors Bureau is more than happy to explain about, since she is one of the leaders of that civic endeavor.
City of Holland parks department staffers will handle pulling the rest of the tulip bulbs in the public areas and composting them.
