JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 27, 2025) – A public library in Ottawa County’s southeast corner will reopen on Tuesday.
Officials with the Patmos Library in Jamestown Township, in an announcement on its website, said that the facility would reopen its doors. “Come explore new books, use our public spaces, and enjoy all the resources you’ve missed! Regular hours will resume,” was the extent of the statement.
The library had been closed since May 9th, when five staffers stepped down over workplace atmosphere differences with the board. A personnel committee of the board will hold a Wednesday afternoon meeting to go over applications for those wishing to fill the staffing positions. No mention was made as to how the library will be staffed when it reopens on Tuesday.
The Patmos Library has come in for its share of controversy, as it took three separate millage requests before an operating levy was renewed. At issue was the library’s material that featured LGBTQ+ topics, which angered some residents.
