LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May. 23, 2025) – Joblessness fell along the Lakeshore and across the state last month, but unemployment is still higher now than at this time last year.
In numbers disclosed on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the not seasonally-adjusted rate for Ottawa County in April stood at four percent, tied for fifth lowest among the state’s 83 counties. While this is six tenths of a percentage point below that of March, it is 1.2 percentage points above what was seen in April of 2024.
Allegan County’s jobless numbers were somewhat similar: 4.7 percent last month, 5.3 percent in March, and 3.4 percent for April of 24.
These results reflect trends on both the county and major market levels in Michigan. An online link to these latest numbers is here.
