Bob was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Gerrit and Margaretha Rietveld.
Bob was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He was also a strong advocate for all people. He worked at Bohn Aluminum for 30 years and helped establish Union Local 1402 at Bohn. Once the union was in place, he pursued and established a skilled apprenticeship program for fellow employees.
Bob married the love of his life, Pat Adams Rietveld, in 1964. Their bold love story, including 61 years of marriage, is one that is truly unequaled.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Pat, daughter Natasha Rietveld, son Robbie Rietveld, granddaughters Brittany and Kianna Lemmen, brother Bill Rietveld, sisters-in-law, Donna Adams Van Huis, Sandra Adams, Corbet and Marcia Adams.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Gerrit and Margaretha Rietveld and his brother Dick Rietveld, brother-in-law Howard Van Huis and sister-in-law, Debra Adams Beck.
We know you have taken your shoes home and they are under your Heavenly bed. You will remain in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, Michigan 49424, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
