Wallace Ryzenga, Sr., age 83, of Holland, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Wally was co-owner of Nelson Steel Products, Inc. Wally and his brother, Roger, spent their careers as co-owners of Nelson Steel Products, Inc., continuing a family business which their father started. Wally served first as Vice President and then President of Nelson Steel Products, until retirement. Wally was a member of Christ Memorial Church.
Every day of his life, Wally lived an active life. Anyone who knew Wally well, knew of his hobby farm where he spent most of his days working on projects. He loved his projects. He and Laurie spent their winter months in Florida. Wally was often found on the golf course playing numerous holes of golf and on the practice tee perfecting his golf swing. Riding his Harley Davidson, feeling the fresh air with Laurie, brought him much joy as well. In between all of this, he spent his mornings with the coffee table guys, hunting, and spending time in the great outdoors where he acknowledged his Creator by quoting Psalm 8 “Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth”. But most of all, he loved spending time with the love of his life, Laurie.
Wally was preceded in death by his son, Wally Ryzenga, Jr.; brother, Roger Ryzenga; and parents Nelson and Ada Ryzenga.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Laurie Ryzenga; children, Sandra and Kevin TenHarmsel, Deb and Jon DeVries; daughter-in-law, Sandy Ryzenga; grandchildren, Brian and Rachel TenHarmsel, Bradley and Kait TenHarmsel, Jennifer and Jeff Rozeboom, Ross and Cassie Ryzenga, Josh and Grace DeVries, Nicole DeVries; 7 great grandchildren; sister Janice and Del South; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for 10am Friday, May 23, 2025 at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd., Holland (please use entrances C & D). Rev. Bill Boersma will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 4-7 pm on Thursday, May 22, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St. Holland.
