Hope College head coach Scott Lokers has been named the 2025 MIAA Men’s Golf Coach of the Year by his peers, earning the honor for the second consecutive season. The award debuted in 2024.
Lokers guided the Flying Dutchmen to their third consecutive MIAA championship this fall and spring and their 24th overall. This is his eighth season as head coach.
Hope shot an MIAA-low, season-scoring-average of 294.17 strokes over six rounds across league play, including four last fall and two this spring.
The Flying Dutchmen capped the regular season with a victory at the 36-hole, two-day MIAA Spring Finale last week, finishing at 28-over-par with a 604 (302-302) at Bella Vista Golf Course in Coldwater.
Lokers coached four All-MIAA golfers this season.
Senior Will Webb and junior Liam Casey received the All-MIAA First Team accolades. Junior Patrick Michael and freshman Will Thomas earned All-MIAA Second Team distinction
Hope’s balanced and consistent play earned the team the MIAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships, with selections to be announced on May 12. The national tournament will take place on Tuesday-Friday, May 20-23, at the Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York.
“Coaching a college golf team is truly a great privilege,” Lokers said. “Being part of the MIAA allows me to get to know amazing coaches, athletes, and parents. Having the support of the Hope College community — great leaders who inspire me every day — is so encouraging. And having the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with players and parents is one of the great joys of my life.”
