Holland Museum Reaches Fundraising Goal to Prevent Possible Cuts

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 29, 2025) – The Holland Museum won’t have to make some tough decisions soon.

A $100,000 fundraising goal by the end of April has been met, although the exact total has not been disclosed. Museum officials such as Associate Director of Development and Communications Kate Leighton-Colburn admitted that staffing and program cuts were looming if the goal wasn’t met.

It’s a situation the Museum doesn’t want to be in again.

Although the financial situation with the neighboring Zeeland Historical Society isn’t as drastic, it’s Executive Director, Katelyn VerMerris, is certainly understanding of what her colleagues on West 10th Street were going through.

The Holland Museum will have extended hours next week during the Tulip Time Festival in an effort to increase its visibility for the thousands of visitors that will descend on the Tulip City.
