GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 28, 2025) – While over 3,200 graduates received diplomas from Grand Valley State University over the weekend, the students left behind will need to pay more to get their education from the Allendale-based institution of higher education in Academic 2026.
In Friday’s meeting before the first of three commencement exercises at Van Andel Arena, the school’s board of trustees approved increases of 4.7 percent for tuition and fees, along with a 4.6 percent hike for housing and dining. GVSU officials claim that the cost for a residential undergrad will still remain in the “bottom quarter” of the state’s public universities, and that financial aid is expected to grow to more than $80 million for the coming year, according to preliminary budget figures.
“Our work, educating and empowering our students and contributing to our community vitality, is more relevant than ever before. By focusing on who we are, we will not only sustain our relevance, we’ll magnify it.” – GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella
The Lakers add that this early decision on tuition, room and board for the upcoming school year was made to help students and supporters with more certainty about the cost of attending.
