LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 23, 2025) – The legal issues surrounding 58th District Court Judge Bradley Knoll continues.
On Tuesday, the state Judicial Tenure Commission announced two public complaints have been filed against the four-term jurist over his actions 17 months ago, where he admitted striking his wife after she had intervened when Knoll was attempting to discipline her 12-year-old grandson, who was resisting efforts to go to school. The judge pled guilty to a misdemeanor domestic violence count in March of 2024 and was sentenced to four months probation.
The JTC complaints center on Knoll’s admission of his actions, as well as his actions when he was arrested by Grand Haven Public Safety police officers. He now has 14 days to respond to the complaints, and the Commission will petition the state Supreme Court to appoint a “master,” who will preside over a hearing regarding this matter.
Knoll, who has been on the court since January of 2003, continued his judicial duties during the course of his criminal proceedings, recusing himself only on cases involving domestic violence. His current term ends in 2026, and as he has already passed the state age limit for judges with his 70th birthday in 2021, he is not eligible for reelection.
Knoll has not publicly commented on these JTC complaints.
