Marvin Louis Koomen, 88, went to his heavenly home on 4/20/2025, where he happily joined his wife Marilyn, of 62 years. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 8/19/1936. He grew up on a farm in Jamestown and his love of agriculture continued throughout his life. When his father Allie passed away suddenly, Marvin went to school, worked at the Chevy Garage and maintained the family farm. Marvin attended the Hudsonville Schools for most of his education and graduated from Zeeland High School.
Marvin worked in many areas of employment, including construction, boat building, truck driving and food processing. His favorite job was a school bus driver for Zeeland Public Schools. Great enjoyment came from having his own grandchildren as his passengers. Marvin was an active member of North Holland Reformed Church where he served as a deacon and elder.
Marvin is survived by his children, Vicky (Larry) Vander Kolk, Mark (Tami)Koomen, Pam (Lonnie) Hop, Tim (Cara) Koomen, Mike (Darlene) Koomen and Greg Koomen. Grandchildren are Kate Vander Kolk, Kellie (Tony) Lindeman, Kendall (Jessica) Vander Kolk, Matt (Jilynn) Koomen, Miranda (Levi) Grant, Aaron (Morgan) Hop, Emily Hop, Stephenie (Alex) Vander Iest, Gage Westhouse, Derek Koomen, Jonathan Koomen, Nathan Koomen, Myra Koomen, Caleb Koomen, Tara Koomen, Trent Koomen. He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death, by granddaughter Amanda Westhouse.
A visitation is planned on April 23, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00pm, at North Holland Reformed Church, 12050 New Holland Street, Holland MI 49424. Funeral service is April 24, 2025, 11:00 am, also at North Holland Reformed Church.
