ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 22, 2025) – The process in seeking a new operational leader for Zeeland Public Schools is underway in earnest.
On Monday, a week-long, online survey began, asking parents and community members their opinions as to what attributes should a new superintendent have, among various questions. Two virtual sessions by the school board for public input is on Tuesday night at 6:30 PM, as well as on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM, and a in-person session is slated for next Tuesday at 7 PM in the district’s Administration Building (183 W. Roosevelt Ave.).
Zeeland Schools has been without a permanent leader since Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham went on a medical leave last October. Earlier this month, Mendham agreed to not return as superintendent, and the board retained an outside firm to assist in the hiring process.
Matt Stolz, who had been the interim superintendent since Mendham’s departure, is leaving the district next Monday to become an administrator in West Ottawa schools. Dr. Scott Korpak was named last week as the new interim school chief, effective on May 5th.
According to a timeline on the district’s website, applications for superintendent are being accepted through May 27th, with a target of June 19th for final interviews, and of July 1st for a potential start date.
