
Hope College swimmer Laurel Wasiniak is a catalyst in the pool and the classroom.
The chemical engineering major has been honored for her academic success and competitive excellence with a selection to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® women’s swimming and diving teams as selected by College Sports Communicators.
Wasiniak (Northville, Michigan / Northville HS) is a third-team selection in NCAA Division III and one of 30 swimmers and divers selected.
The junior is the fourth Flying Dutch swimmer to claim the Academic All-America® recognition, joining Greta Gidley (2024), Chelsea Wiese (2012) and Elizabeth Vandenberg (2000).
College Sports Communicators is a 4,400-plus member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The organization was known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from its founding in 1957 until a 2022 name change.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division III Academic All-America® program.
Wasiniak earned All-America honors in seven events at the NCAA Division III Championships in March, including first-team accolades in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays and the 400 medley relay.
Wasiniak claimed All-America second-team distinction in the 100 and 200 freestyle, the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay.
During February’s MIAA Championships, Wasiniak received All-MIAA honors for the third time after racing to individual league titles in the 100 and 200 freestyle and helping the Flying Dutch earn their fifth consecutive MIAA championship and 27th overall.
