PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 15, 2025) – For those “on their way to the beach” on Holland’s North Side, their drive could be a little slower yet safer.
On Monday, painting contractors retained by the Ottawa County Road Commission began the process of converting the passing lane of westbound Ottawa Beach Road, between 144th and 160th avenues, into a center turn lane. This “road diet” is aimed at improving safety on that four-lane roadway, and fits right in with a Safety Action Plan presented during last month’s policy meeting of the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council, whose executive director is Jason Latham.
Audio PlayerThe MACC’s Technical Advisory Committee met on Monday to go over this plan, with the policy board of local elected leaders set to vote on implementing this on April 28th. An online link to the MACC website, which has the plan in a dedicated “Safe Streets for All” page, is here.
