ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 4, 2025) – Two men are expected to recover from injuries suffered when their transit van collided with a semi north of Allendale on Friday morning.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes following the crash around 10 AM at the intersection of 64th Avenue and Pierce Street. It appeared that the westbound van had stopped for a stop sign and then proceeded forward, into the path of the northbound truck with an empty dump trailer that had the right of way and didn’t have to stop.
The driver of the van, a 26-year-old Wyoming man, and his passenger, a 26-year-old Saranac man, were taken to an unnamed “Grand Rapids area hospital” for treatment of serious yet non-life threatening injuries; the semi trucker, a 50-year-old Grand Haven man, was not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
