Margaret Perrin (Redman) Elhart age 91, of Holland, MI. died Friday, March 21, 2025 at Holland Hospital.
Born to Leonard J. Perrin and Margaret Bogetto Perrin on October 12, 1933 in Marquette, Michigan.
Raised in Marquette she attended St. Johnโs Catholic School through 8th grade. Graduated from Graveraet High School in 1951. Attended Northern Michigan University and earned a BS degree in education in 1956 and a MA degree in 1966. She also earned a Vocational Degree in food service.
From 1957 โ 1961 the Air Force moved the family around the country four times. Returning to Marquette in the fall of 1961.
While raising a family, she taught 16 years at the middle school (Graveraet and Bothwell) in Marquette and was a partner in a Mister Dounut franchise. In 1978 the family moved to Holland, MI. and returned to teaching in 1979 at Holland High School โ teaching Consumer Education and operating the Dutch Den Restaurant located in the school. Retiring in 1988. As a member of St. Francis de Sales parish โ served on the parish counsel and a Stephenโs Minister.
In 1985 she married Kenneth Elhart and they have enjoyed 39 years together. They traveled extensively and enjoyed boating and playing golf. They have divided their time between Hobe Sound, Fl. and Holland. In 2015 they moved to Freedom Village, a senior retirement community. Margaret was very active and involved in numerous committees and volunteer activities. She and Ken established many cherished relationships there.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald and Geraldine Perrin and Joseph and Loretta Perrin, and a son, Wayne Elhart, sister-in-law, Clara Vander Laan.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth Elhart; sons, R. Michael (Helen) Redman, W. Scott (Kimberly) Redman, Jeffery (Cherie) Elhart; daughter-in-law, Kathy Elhart; grandchildren, Jasmine, Mariah, Colin, and Sean Redman, Jake (Danielle) Elhart, Ben (Allison) Elhart; great grandchildren, Mason and Avery Elhart, and Malcolm Elhart; nieces, Cindy Perrin, Lori Swajanen, Susan Perrin, and Jennifer Perrin; several cousins including, Pier Luigi Bogetto and family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 171 W. 13th St. Holland. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wayne Elhart โbe niceโ Memorial Fund, 85 E. 8th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
