HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 24, 2025) โ An apparent fit of anger has cost a 25-year-old Grand Haven area man at least a weekend behind bars and perhaps more.
Gavin Love was arraigned on Monday on malicious destruction of property and third-time habitual offender charges stemming from an incident at the Walmart store off of North Park Drive on Hollandโs North Side. According to Ottawa County Sheriffโs Deputies who responded to the Friday evening call around 6:40 PM, the accused had entered the retailer and began pulling televisions from the shelves and destroying them.
Love then purportedly grabbed a metal pole and started striking at items on the shelves, smashing glass doors on display cases and coolers, until deputies were able to corral him and take him into custody. Store staffers believe that six flat-screen televisions, along with at least 17 glass doors, were demolished, and the total dollar amount of damage is expected to be several thousand dollars. No customers or employees were injured or threatened during the incident.
Love was ordered held on $50,000 bond by 58th District Court Judge Juanita Bocanegra pending a preliminary hearing next week.
The matter remains under investigation, and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriffโs Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
