
Hope College sprinter Sara Schermerhorn added to her growing track resume with a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships on Saturday in Rochester, New York.
The junior from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West) clocked a time of 56.48 seconds during the finals to earn All-America First Team honors in the event for the second consecutive season. Schermerhorn placed seventh in the nation in 2024.
An exercise science major, Schermerhorn has earned All-America accolades four times in indoor competition, including twice as a second-team honoree in the 200 (ninth this season and 11th in 2024).
Brynn Mooney of SUNY-Geneseo captured the national title by posting a run of 55.69 seconds.
Hope finished the two-day meet with two points and tied for 57th place.
