HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2024) – Many people from the Chicagoland area head to the Lakeshore for a vacation escape. A man wanted in the death of a 46-year-old trucking company executive there hoped to escape to the Lakeshore from justice, but the long arm of the law caught up with him a week ago.
No name was disclosed by authorities after the arrest was enacted at a truck stop off of Lincoln Road (M-40) and I-196 last Thursday. Holland Public Safety police officers were alerted by their colleagues in the Chicago suburb of Crestwood that the suspect was possibly headed their way, providing a description of the man and the vehicle he was believed to be driving. That vehicle was spotted in the parking lot, and a tactical team was deployed to apprehend the suspect without incident.
The arrest stems from a March 5th incident in which the body of 46-year-old Dane Koteski was found in the second floor of the ATG Truckload building after firefighters extinguished a blaze there. Koteski was the president and CEO of that logistics company, and the suspect is believed to have been an employee there. An autopsy revealed that the victim had apparently died from stab wounds to his neck.
The suspect is awaiting an extradition hearing in 58th District Court before he is transported back to Illinois to face expected arson and murder charges.
