Jake Taber ’04 has been chosen as the MIAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading the Hope College Flying Dutch to a fifth consecutive league championship last month.
The award is voted on by MIAA coaches.
At the 2025 MIAA Championships, Taber guided the Flying Dutch to a wire-to-wire championship as they amassed a league-record 1,170 points while winning by a margin of 268 points. The previous record was 1,131, recorded by Hope in 2023.
The MIAA Championship was the 27th overall for Hope, which is the most among MIAA schools.
The Flying Dutch finished the four-day meet with 13 goal medals in 20 events.
Hope also became the first MIAA school to sweep all five relay events in the conference meet since Calvin in 2007.
Senior Sara Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford HS) became the MIAA’s Most Valuable Women’s Swimmer for the third time in her career. With Taber’s help, Kraus also became the second MIAA and Hope swimmer to win the 100 and 200 backstroke four times.
